i'm flying up on friday - and all my other brothers and sisters will be arriving. Click the link in the title to see the local newspaper announcement for their anniversary.
mom and dad were married on november 6, 1949 in the same church they still attend! in fact, it's the same church that all us kids grew up in, took confirmation classes (lutheran), and generally had more fun in that you could possibly imagine! among the six of us kids, there are lots and lots of memories tied to that church and the folks there.
60 years sure seems like a long time to me - - and to spend it all (plus growing up and high school) together has got to be special! i think most every decision i've ever made has been made with "what would mom and dad do" in my mind....
i'm sure they had their arguments, fights, growing pains, whatever you want to call it - - but, for me - the important lesson is that marriage takes lots and lots of work and lots and lots of effort from both parties. it's never easy - but the togetherness and friendship and love are rewards in and of themselves - - and i'm sure us six kids gave them plenty of pauses for concern! lol
i love my folks dearly - - wish them all the best and really look forward to spending the weekend with the family. it should be a great time!
i probably won't have computer access while i'm up that way.....i'll get some pics while i'm home and have a post early next week - let ya know how the party goes......
